Looking for a laser beam profiler can be frustrating. All existing solutions are very expensive and offer a variety of functionalities and sophisticated software. In many cases, these high-priced laser beam profilers are oversized, for example, when only relative laser beam intensity, beam shape or position needs to be measured.
With the development of high-resolution thermopile arrays, we created a low-cost alternative to these sophisticated and high-priced laser beam profiler systems. For example, an array with 80x64 pixels and 90 µm pixel pitch is equipped with a transparent plane filter which, depending on the wavelength of the laser, can be made of CaF2, BaF2 or another suitable optical material (see figure below).
The range even extends to THz lasers (30 µm=10 THz) with HRFZ-Si as a filter. This array allows laser beams of up to 5.7 mm diameter to be easily recorded. By a simple offset and sensitivity "calibration" a wide intensity range of the laser beam profile can be covered. By using neutral density filters, the intensity range can be further extended.
Besides the 80x64 with 90 µm pixel pitch, we can also offer different resolutions like 32x32, 60x40 or 120x84 pixels with pixel pitch of 90 µm, 60 µm or even 45 µm.
With our visualization software, the intensity distribution and the profile can be immediately displayed, exported and saved in different formats for subsequent evaluation and it supports 10 independent streams at the same time.
